Top board for medical equipment
The board of the X-ray diagnostic system (bottom in the photo) on which the patient lies is called the "top board." Owing to its features, Toray's carbon composite is adopted by many top boards.

1. Light weight
A carbon composite top board weighs less than one-fifth an acrylic top board and two-fifths a wooden (veneer) top board.

2. High strength
A carbon composite top board is at least twice as strong as a wooden top board and at least 1.6 times as strong as an acrylic top board.

3. High X-ray transmissivity
Having a high X-ray transmission rate, carbon composite top board reduces the radiation exposure of the body while achieving high image quality. A carbon composite top board has an X-ray absorption rate of less than one-fifth that of an acrylic top board and less than one-half that of a wooden top board.
