TORAYCA® Prepreg ET40 is nominated as a finalist of JEC Innovation Awards 2019 in the category of “Sports and Healthcare”.
ET40 achieves superior levels of formability with complex shapes while keeping equivalent mechanical properties to conventional continuous fiber UD prepreg.
A golf club with carbon crown from Honma Golf, and a racing machine from Suzuki Motor Corporation will be exhibited on “Planets”, the exhibition space for the finalists.
Honma golf, a pioneer and a long-established manufacturer of golf clubs, has newly designed a crown with multiple ribs using TORAYCA® Prepreg ET40 and has created the world’s thinnest and lightest carbon crown*. The internal rib structure provides the strength and optimum deflection required to play golf at the highest level.

Suzuki Motor Corporation is a manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles etc. In MotoGP, which is the premium category for motorcycle racing, Suzuki replaced the conventional woven prepreg used in the manufacturing of cowls for bike bodies with TORAYCA® Prepreg ET40. ET40’s minimal resin content and simplified painting process (as a result of its smooth surface) enabled Suzuki to achieve a 10% reduction in weight.
